Challenges

Challenges are an optional way to modify your leveling experience, offering a simple yet game-changing twist on how you adventure through Project Epoch. Once a Challenge begins, there's no turning back. Whether you're fighting for your character's life or exploring every corner of Azeroth, each Challenge delivers a unique and unforgettable journey.

To share your journey, track progress, and connect with others taking on Challenges, join the global /challenges chat channel. Here, you can discuss strategies, celebrate milestones, and see how fellow adventurers are faring.

Opting In

Every Challenge begins in a consistent and straightforward way, ensuring you can jump in quickly and easily. No matter which Challenge you choose, the process remains the same, allowing you to focus on the adventure ahead without any unnecessary complications.

Where?

Each secondary town or city hosts a Challenge NPC for every available Challenge. If you're unsure where to find them, a nearby guard can provide directions, ensuring you can quickly start your adventure.

When?

Challenges can only be started at level 8 or below. If you exceed this level, you will be unable to participate. To remind you once you reach level 5 you will receive an in game mail from each of the Challenge factions.

How?

To start a Challenge, speak with a Challenge NPC. They will provide you with details about the rules, any restrictions, and the rewards. To confirm your participation, you'll need to enter your character's name.

Rewards

All Challenges follow a unified reward structure, offering milestones at levels 20, 40, and 60 with consistent achievement and item rewards.

Level 20

Reaching level 20 while undertaking a Challenge is a milestone worth celebrating. As a reward, you'll earn a Feat of Strength achievement, a special announcement in the Challenges world channel, and a 12-slot bag filled with utility potions to aid you on your journey.

Level 40

At level 40, the rewards improve. You'll receive a 16-slot bag, a more potent selection of potions, and another achievement to mark your progress. Your success will also be broadcasted in the Challenges world channel, letting others know of your dedication.

Level 60

Finally, at level 60, you'll claim the ultimate prize. Your efforts will be recognized with an 18-slot bag, top-tier potions, and a grand announcement in the world channel celebrating your achievement. To commemorate your journey, you'll also earn an exclusive title that reflects the Challenge you conquered.

Soul of Iron

Faction: ChroniclersTitle: The Ironwrought

A lighter take on Hardcore, inspired by Season of Mastery. The rule is simple—don't die. As long as you remain alive, you'll have access to a custom /flex emote to display your status.

However, if you fall, you face a choice: Delete your character and start fresh. Or undertake a trial of patience—return to your nearest faction capital at walking speed, with severely reduced stats and no access to flight paths or teleports. Upon arrival, speak to a Chronicler to remove the challenge and continue your journey without a Soul of Iron.

Explorer's Contract

Faction: Steamwheedle CartelTitle: The Patient

This Challenge reshapes how you level by halving all experience sources—except for exploration. To progress efficiently, you'll need to fully immerse yourself in Project Epoch's expansion-worthy questing content, traveling across the world in search of new discoveries.

With fewer experience gains from kills and quests, dungeon runs become more valuable, and exploration is key. Expect to venture into lesser-known regions, take on additional challenges, and embrace the grind as you experience Azeroth like never before. Every level earned is a true accomplishment, and only the most dedicated explorers will reach the journey's end.
