PvP is a core pillar of Project Epoch, and we've made sweeping changes to ensure it thrives—even on our PvE realm. From systemic overhauls to tailored incentives, we've built a world where battle is always an option, never an afterthought.
PvP is a core pillar of Project Epoch, and we've made sweeping changes to ensure it thrives—even on our PvE realm. From systemic overhauls to tailored incentives, we've built a world where battle is always an option, never an afterthought.
Our PvP system is inspired by some later expansions, and this means we do not have the traditional ranking system present in Classic. No longer do you have to maintain your honor gain every week just to keep your current rank. Instead you earn currency to purchase your PvP gear, detailed further below. Some of the original PvP titles are now available through achievements, with the title High Warlord (Horde)/Grand Marshal (Alliance) requiring 100,000 honorable kills! Carve your way through countless foe to earn this prestigious title.
To ensure that PvP gear stays useful alongside new PvE content releases, we will be featuring PvP Seasons. With the release of a new season comes new PvP gear and a reset to your Arena Rating, giving existing players new goals to chase and giving new or returning players a fresh chance to jump into the action. Some seasons will also come with new features, such as new Battlegrounds, Arenas, or other forms of content.
With the release of Project Epoch the server will be in a "Pre-Season" state awaiting the start of Season 1 a number of weeks later. This gives players time to level up and get a good feel for their class. During this Pre-Season state you will be unable to obtain most currencies, but there are Pre-Season rare quality PvP sets to obtain from the only Battleground at this time, Warsong Gulch.
You'll be able to purchase brand new PvP specialized gear from vendors in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, allowing you to use your spoils from the battlefield to armor yourself up. These sets of gear include a new stat we call "PvP Defense" which reduces your damage taken from other players and those players' pets. With the release of new PvP Seasons, new gear will be available to purchase!
Additionally, low level players can find PvP gear of their own at vendors outside of Battleground entrances, such as at Mor'shan Rampart in the Barrens for Horde, or Silverwing Grove in Ashenvale for the Alliance. This gear can be upgraded for a discount, allowing you to maintain a strong gear set while you level up.
Marks of Honor can be earned only from specific Battlegrounds, with each Battleground having their own Mark of Honor, such as the "Warsong Gulch Mark of Honor". These items are used alongside Honor Points and Conquest Points to purchase your PvP gear, or they can be traded in to a person standing outside of their respective entrances out in the world to gain gold, reputation, and some consumables.
Honor Points can be earned from a wide variety of activities such as Battlegrounds, open world PvP objectives, killing enemy players, killing enemy faction leaders, and from certain PvP quests in the world. You use Honor Points alongside Marks of Honor to purchase your basic rare quality PvP gear and some items such as food or consumables.
Conquest Points can be earned from a tighter list of activities such as Battlegrounds (with a bonus to how much you gain from your first Random Battleground of the day), arenas, killing enemy faction leaders, and killing world bosses. You use Conquest Points alongside Marks of Honor to purchase the very best epic quality PvP gear. You can only earn a limited amount of Conquest Points, with the limit increasing every week.
When a new season releases this limit is reset and all existing Conquest Points on players are wiped out. If you miss a week or if you arrive late to a season, don't worry! The limit on Conquest Points is the same limit as everybody else, allowing you to catch up.
